Domestic Violence and Protection Orders

Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner or family member. Abuse is physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person.

Protection Orders are legal orders that tell someone to stay away from you for safety reasons.

If you use a computer at home, your abuser may be able to track you. If possible, use a computer at a library or community centre. The library kiosk will wipe your search. In an emergency, call 911.
